Meet Brandy
Postpartum Certified Doula(DONA) and Professional Baby Proofer
in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
It is my privilege and joy to create a safe and loving environment for families as they grow.
My Story
A life filled with love and children
From an early age, I knew that my life would involve caring for children. Through the years, that has manifested in a variety of ways: I have worked with an AIDS orphanage in Nairobi, served meals to inner city kids living with food scarcity and, ultimately, became a Board Certified Pediatric Hospital Chaplain. My time in the hospital taught me the importance of being honest and gentle with children and their journeys. It also taught me that we all need space to be deeply honest about who we are and how we feel.
Becoming a mother myself
After some fertility challenges, I was finally able to have children of my own. Being a mother feels like the truest part of myself. I left my career as a hospital chaplain to focus on raising my three children. Thankfully, opportunities continued to present themselves to care for others walking through difficult situations, including the privilege to co-author a book: Your Companion After Pregnancy or Infant Loss.
My continuing journey
As my children have grown and my life has evolved, I have remained open to opportunities to use my skills and passion to serve others. Becoming a postpartum doula seemed like the perfect next step in my journey. I am grateful for the opportunity to witness and support families in this beautiful, but challenging, time of transition.
As I cared for new families, I learned that there is a real need for educated baby proofers in the Charleston area. I pursued my training and am honored to support the work families have already started - creating a safe environment for their growing little one.
